Synopsis: Antonio Salieri has devoted his life to becoming a great composer, starting in a small town in Italy to moving on to become the Court Composer for Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II.  Life is prosperous and successful and Salieri is very self assured until the vulgar former child prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arrives in Vienna from Salzburg.  While the young man and his new wife Constanze struggle to gain enough income to live, Salieri recognises that Mozart’s talent for composition is far greater than his own.  Salieri, threatened by Mozart, uses his influence to drive him into poverty but the “creature” continues to write miraculous music.  Salieri, driven to insanity by jealousy plots to kill Mozart in order to preserve his own legacy.
