Tutors

YPT tutors are employed under contract to provide training for students enrolled in the Theatre School. Senior, Assistant and Trainee Tutors work under the direction of the Principal of the Theatre School.

On accepting a position in the Theatre School, tutors agree to:

  • supervision by the Principal of the Theatre School
  • comply with directions regarding lesson content and planning; reporting and liaison for administrative, venue access, and promotional matters
  • be punctual and attend all scheduled classes and training meetings
  • carry out duties with a professional and cooperative attitude
  • comply with all rules and regulations applying in the halls or other venues housing YPT Theatre Classes
  • exclude people not engaged in the successful implementation of a Theatre Class from the Class during scheduled class times
  • be at the class venue at least ten (10) minutes before the scheduled class commencement time
  • notify the Principal of the Theatre School of unavailability for duty at least 24 hours prior to class commencement (as appropriate)

On employing a tutor, YPT agrees to provide:

  • guidelines for lesson organisation, planning and sequencing
  • schedule of class dates, times and venues
  • Class Rolls for each class taught
  • clean & comfortable venues for classes
  • support and counsel for both tutor and student welfare
  • Workers Compensation Insurance as required by law
  • payment in accordance with a schedule of dates included in the contract

In compliance with the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998, YPT requires new employees to sign a Prohibited Employment Declaration form and appropriate checks are undertaken.
