Young People’s Theatre is self funded and welcomes all donations. The theatre is primarily run by a unique team of volunteers. These volunteers dedicate their time and emotional energy into developing their young members. You can see our current list of available roles on our volunteer opportunities page.
YPT has provided teaching and performance opportunities for young people between the ages of 8 and 18 for more than 50 years. The theatre is also a place where its young members can be part of a very special and caring community. In this ‘family’ the members gain confidence, make life long friends and are treated with the utmost respect.
The following donation funds have been established to support YPT to continue to deliver drama education and theatrical opportunities, or you can contact us directly to discuss how you can support Young People’s Theatre Newcastle.

YPT Remembers Reuben Fund
YPT Remembers Reuben
Reuben Arnold Sutherland
23 October 2002 – 30 March 2015
The YPT Remembers Reuben Fund was established in memory of Reuben Sutherland. Reuben was a part of this very special community. Reuben was tragically killed on 30 March 2015 as he crossed the road after getting off his school bus. Reuben was only 12 years old. Reuben was a very special boy who was loved by many. His family has requested that any donation in memory of his life be made to The Young People’s Theatre Newcastle “as this was such an important place for Reuben”.
Donations will raise much needed funds so YPT can continue to provide theatrical opportunities to young people.
