LINDSAY STREET PLAYERS Terms and Conditions

Membership

Young People’s Theatre Newcastle Inc. (YPT) is a self-funded, community-based organisation, governed by a Constitution with a large volunteer base. At this stage, Lindsay Street Players classes are only available to those who hold adult membership at YPT (correct as of Term 2, 2025). Pending trial, we intend to extend this to the wider community from Term 3, 2025. 

Child Safe Organisation

YPT is a child safe organisation and take child protection seriously. While there will be no children involved in any offerings of Lindsay Street Players Classes, there may be children in the building at similar times. Please follow the directors of YPT tutors, management and executive and do not directly interact with students of Young People’s Theatre, Newcastle Inc. Should there be any incidential contact with students of YPT – the Young People’s Theatre Code of Conduct and Child Safety policies  are expected to be adhered to. 


Enrolments

All Lindsay Street Players classes are offered on a casual basis and all lessons delivered can be attended on a stand alone basis, and do not require your participation in previous or further classes. However we do encourage people to attend regularly to get the most benefits from the program. 

To enrol in classes, follow the link to the desired class and sign up. Payment is taken on enrolment. 

Refunds

We do not offer refunds on Lindsay Street Players classes however, if you are unable to attend a class we can credit your account for future Lindsay Street Players Classes. To apply for a credit please email enrolment@ypt.org.au at least 6 hours prior to the class start time. Credits can only be used on future LSP classes and can not be transferred to YPT. 


Lindsay Street Players Uniform

There is no uniform for Lindsay Street Players classes however please ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing you are able to move in and flexible enclosed shoes.
Appropriate clothing should allow ease of movement with adequate coverage to reduce any risk of exposure that may cause embarrassment.
Our classes are often physical; students often find themselves in a range of extreme physical positions and appropriate clothing is required.

Safety/Emergency Procedures

Those arriving for LSP classes will not be allowed access to the building more than 15 minutes prior to class time. Your LSP tutor will be available to meet you 15 minutes prior to the class starting the in YPT foyer. Please ensure you make yourself known to the tutor so you can be marked as attended on the role. In the event of an emergency, the role will be important in identifying who is in the building. If for whatever reason you do not appear on the role, please sign in at the office entrance. 

All LSP classes are held at Young People Theatre Newcastle in Hamilton. The building is fitted with emergency exits and alarm system, please follow the director of your tutor to leave building safely and muster on the corner of Lawson and Cleary Street. Please do not leave without identifying yourself to a tutor. 


Provision of medical and wellbeing information for YPT to support child

YPT requires all participants to notify any health or other issues that could affect the welfare participants in a LSP class on the registration form. 


Necessary physical contact

Drama classes and rehearsals include the development and exploration of activities that may involve students coming into direct physical contact with the teacher and/or tutor.


Injuries and Loss of Personal Effects

Our classes and activities often involve the development and exploration of physical skills, such as running, jumping and general movement. These activities carry the risk of physical harm. It must be understood and agreed that YPT will not be responsible for any injuries incurred during YPT activities and any participant is participating in these activities at their own risk. 

YPT will not be held responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings whilst at classes.


Student expression and the right to feel safe

All students have the right to feel safe to express themselves in our classes without fear of ridicule, bullying behaviour or physical harm. If any student is in breach of this expectation, YPT has the authority to exclude them indefinitely without a refund.


Photography and Videoing

Participants are not permitted to take photographs or video recordings of their class at or other participants when engaging in LSP activities. .


Consent for YPT to use images

YPT reserves the right to make archival photographic and/or visual recordings of classes, rehearsals, events, excursions, and productions (with copyright permission) for inclusion in YPT archives and for use in YPT multimodal marketing publications.

Confirmation and Acknowledgement

Upon payment of fees and registration you are stating that you understand, acknowledge, and agree with all YPT’s terms and conditions in relation to LSP classes.
Changes to YPT’s terms and conditions can and will occur from time to time
