YPT Family: Meet our new tutor, Brynn

YPT is thrilled to welcome the Brynn officially to the YPT Tutoring team. Brynn was a participant in our Beginner Tutor Program is 2022 and has graduated to join the tutoring team teaching primary drama. You may recognize her from when she tap danced with 4 legs in our production of The SpongeBob Musical. Jade is a Think Beyond Student at YPT and was recently our Production Assistant for Tuck Everlasting.
Describe what you do as a creative in one sentence?
Brynn: I love participating in all areas of theatre, whether that be in performing, tech crew, a creative team, or even the audience, and I have a strong passion for musical theatre!
What is your favourite theatre memory?
One of my many favourite theatre memories was being a part of SpongeBob the musical at YPT! I was able to work with so many amazing, kind and talented people in creating such a fun and uplifting performance for everyone to enjoy. It is an experience I will never forget and am forever grateful for the memories and amazing friends that I made along the way!
What inspires you to do theatre?
So many different things inspire me to do theatre, specifically my peers, friends and tutors at YPT who I have grown up with, sharing my passions and dream goals. As well as watching amazing musicals and plays within and outside of the Newcastle theatre community.
What are you excited about teaching YPT students?
I am excited about teaching YPT students new skills and enhancing their previous ones in performing. I specifically want to create a space where all students can feel comfortable to take positive risks in becoming a performer and of course make some life long friends along the way!
What do you love about theatre/dance/drama?
I love being able to tell a story to an audience in a different and entertaining way whilst creating a world for them to get lost in and becoming a character they can follow on a new adventure.
What is your favourite play or musical?
My favourite musical, is definitely Newsies! It was a production that really inspired me to be a performer as it instantly had me hooked with the incredibly dancing, beautiful music, and breathtaking acting!
What is one piece of advice you could give to any YPT student?
Believe in yourself! Because you’re where you are for a reason, so take every opportunity that comes your way and never give up on something you love and enjoy!!
Are you excited to be apart of YPT Tutoring Team?
I am so incredibly excited to be on the tutoring team! I have dreamed of teaching at YPT and being just like my tutors were for me since I was just a little student at YPT.
Brynn will be assisting our Senior Tutors with Primary Drama on Saturdays, sharing her skills with the next generation of young performers. You can also catch Brynn onstage in our Think Beyond production of PUFFS and also as Queen Iduna and our Dance Captain in Frozen JR. later this year.
