It is important to us that everyone can experience the theatre. YPT welcomes patrons with special needs and disabilities.
For visitors with mobility issues please enter via Lawson Street past the YPT office where there is level access and no stairs. The theatre seating in the auditorium is stepped so accessible and transfer seating is available in Row A at the front of the theatre. Row A offers full views of the stage and can accommodate carers or family and friends. Our ushers will assist by storing your wheelchair or walker and bringing it to you at interval, as required, and the end of the show. If you require front row seating, please email contact details to boxoffice@ypt.org.au and the Box Office Manager will be in touch.
Our theatre has an accessible bathroom located near the entry to the theatre auditorium.
Hearing Aid Loop is accessible from all theatre seats; turn your hearing aid to ‘T’ for reception.
Guide dogs are welcome at the Theatre. Please notify us at the time of booking so we can ensure an appropriate seat is available.
YPT does accept companion cards. Please contact the office to give details of accessibility requirements.
For any specific questions related to accessibility, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
Foyer doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to the performance and the auditorium opens approximately 15 minutes prior to the performance. You will be greeted and seated by a member of our friendly staff.
Audience members arriving late to a show will need to wait for an appropriate point in the performance to be shown in by ushers.
Yes, however, we do not allow hot food or food with crinkly wrappers inside the theatre.
No. Strictly no photos or videos can be taken during the show. All mobile phones must also be switched off as these not only disturb other audience members, but can interfere with technical equipment like hearing loops.

Yes, we endeavour to provide at least one sensory-friendly performance of each production.
In these designated performances the auditorium has brighter lights, lighting effects are kept to a minimum, and the sound is turned down. There is also an understanding that audience members may make more noise, and can do so without fear of judgement.
Please contact our office if you would like to be notified when these reduced sensory performances are scheduled boxoffice@ypt.org.au
