It is important to us that everyone can experience the theatre. YPT welcomes patrons with special needs and disabilities.
For visitors with mobility issues please enter via Lawson Street past the YPT office where there is level access and no stairs. The theatre seating in the auditorium is stepped so accessible and transfer seating is available in Row A at the front of the theatre. Row A offers full views of the stage and can accommodate carers or family and friends. Our ushers will assist by storing your wheelchair or walker and bringing it to you at interval, as required, and the end of the show. If you require front row seating, please email contact details to email@example.com and the Box Office Manager will be in touch.
Our theatre has an accessible bathroom located near the entry to the theatre auditorium.
Hearing Aid Loop is accessible from all theatre seats; turn your hearing aid to ‘T’ for reception.
Guide dogs are welcome at the Theatre. Please notify us at the time of booking so we can ensure an appropriate seat is available.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept companion cards.
For any specific questions related to accessibility, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
We are introducing sensory-friendly performances that offer a more relaxed theatre experience for audience members who may find particular aspects of theatre shows challenging.
Our first reduced sensory performance was ‘The Hundred and One Dalmatians’ on Sunday 28 July 2019.
In these designated performances the auditorium has brighter lights, lighting effects are kept to a minimum, and the sound is turned down. There is also an understanding that audience members may make more noise, and can do so without fear of judgement.
Please contact our office if you would like to be notified when these reduced sensory performances are scheduled firstname.lastname@example.org
Foyer doors open approximately 40 minutes prior to performances. Audience members arriving late to a show will need to wait for an appropriate point in the performance to be shown in by ushers.
No. Strictly no photos or videos can be taken during the show. All mobile phones must also be switched off as these not only disturb other audience members, but can interfere with technical equipment like hearing loops.
Yes. This is an ongoing tradition at YPT. At the conclusion of most performances the curtain will open again and the audience have the opportunity to meet the cast.
Yes. YPT performances are popular for social group outings and school holiday activity programs. Group bookings of 15 or more qualify for a discount. Please book early so we can try seat you as a group.
Groups with special needs are strongly advised to book via the box office (rather than online) to ensure the most appropriate seats are booked.
Please contact the YPT office during office hours Saturday 9am to 1pm, or email email@example.com at any time.
YPT has a canteen where you can purchase treats and drinks before the show and during intermission. Foods permitted in the Theatre auditorium include sweets and beverages purchased at the canteen and/or similar style items brought from home.
Foods not permitted in the Theatre auditorium include potato crisps, popcorn, packets of biscuits and takeaway style food. The issue with these foods are the noise created by crinkly packages (in a live theatre context) and the potential for mess on the carpets. Thank you for your support.
No. Unfortunately the Theatre is not available for community hire. This is due to the continual use of the theatre for productions and theatre school classes.
