This new offering provides a dynamic and flexible experience for senior students focusing on the joy of theatre
Program Overview
- Focused on skill-building, collaboration, and the joy of creating theatre
- Flexible structure, tailored to the interests and strengths of the group
- Encourages student-led work and creative leadership
- Opportunities to explore a variety of theatre-making approaches, including performance, direction, and design
- Involves a mix of devised pieces, licensed works, and original student creations
Performance Outcome
- Culminates in a 30-minute black box performance as part of Player’s Collective Festival
- Each class presents a short-form piece (30 minutes or one-act), performed on a dedicated night
- Performances may be self-devised or drawn from licensed material
- Tech support provided, with minimal costumes permitted
Class Structure
- Weekly 90-minute class
- One in-class tech rehearsal
- Minimal out-of-class preparation required
Ideal for students balancing other commitments, or who aren’t interested in the Industry Specific Content of Think Beyond, as this program has minimal outside workload or who love creating, designing and collaborating.

Applications are now open for both Drama and Musical Theatre 2026 Programs.

To be considered for Think Beyond, please also complete the application form. This form is also the same application for the Players Collective Program, of which you can also register your interest. This form must be completed by Friday 13 December at 10:00am.

How to Apply
- For applicants to be successful in being selected for the program they must:
- Complete the application process above in its entirety
- Meet the standard of skill required for entry into the course
- Meet the standard of dedication, commitment and attendance
- Be judged as suitable on merit from their audition
Should more suitable applicants apply for the course, selection will be based on the YPT Theatre School Policy. In short, Year 12 and Year 11 students will be given priority should they meet the above standard and existing YPT students will be priortised providing they meet the criteria.
