We are so excited to annouce that our Lindsay Street Players and Young People’s Theatre collaboration production The Sound of Music is now OPEN!!! We are so excited to have had the opportunity to allow 2 of our senior students to attend the cast’s final dress rehearsal and give you a sneak peek at the show! These students are Isla (14) and Alice (14)! Let’s take a look at what they had to say!
What happens in the show?
Isla: A young woman named Maria becomes the governess of 7 Children.
Alice: Maria get’s sent to work for Mr Vontrapp, taking care of his 7 kids as their governess. She teaches them to sing and slowly brings music back ro Mr Vontrapp. However, Maria leaves due to a new found crush, but she gets persuaded to go back and get married to Mr Vontrapp.
What did you like best about the performance?
Isla: The singing was phenomenal, everyone sounded amazing and wonderful. All the songs were beautiful and great.
Alice: The harmonies, costume changes, the dedication, the accents (OMG!!), the singing again!
Why should audiences come to see the show?
Isla: The songs are all wonderful and the acting is very good. I love how YPT has brought it to life.
Alice: To marvel at the wonderful, professional feeling production YPT and the Lindsay Street Players put together.
List a few things you liked about the following elements of the show and how it enhanced your experience: Lighting, Use of Sound/Music, Costume, Set & Props:
Isla: I like the costumes and how they add to the ambience of th musical as well as give insight to the time period.
Alice: The costumes were very symbolic as the show progresses. The set was amazing and changed according to each scene. The lighting adds so much to the show, it adds depth, creates mood and just overall good!
Any other comments:
Isla: All the cast were amazing and super great to watch!
Alice: I would most defintely reccomend this show to everyone no matter if they have seen the movie or not, as the actors tell he story amazingly, so convincing!. The chemistry between Maria and the children is so cute.
