Young People’s Theatre, Newcastle Inc. is seeking an experienced performing arts tutor to join our theatre school teaching team. We are specifically looking for a DRAMA TUTOR available on Tuesday Afternoons from 4pm.
About YPT
YPT is a not-for-profit community arts organisation that has been creating ‘theatre for young people, by young people’ for 77 years. We currently run a program a 70 weekly classes in all styles of performing arts and provide a support and inclusive team for our tutors to collaborate and inspire the next generation of performing artists.
Ideal Candidates and Posistion
This role is suited to someone with prior teaching experience and a good working knowledge of the industry. The ideal applicant would have post school qualifications in drama or equivalent experience. Our ideal applicant would be available for work on Tuesday evenings with other availability throughout the week and have experience working with Year 5 – 8 (Intermediate) and Year 9 + (Senior). The posistion requires an applicant at Senior Tutor Level, with the ability to plan and deliver age-appropriate content for class sizes up to 22 students. Senior Tutors are supported in class with a second tutor where appropriate to assist in delivering high quality lessons.
Employment
Successful applicants would be employed as a casual tutor in the YPT Theatre School and provided with a roster for Semester 2, 2025 – starting July. Pay rates available on request.
