Evie Jenkins playing Alice

Who is Alice?
Evie: To me Alice is the characterisation of curiosity and imagination, she represents something that is part of everyone, joy and pure creativity.

What has the rehearsal process been like for Alice in Wonderland?
Evie: The rehearsal process for this show has been very fast paced and rewarding, and the cast and directing teams have shown great passion and love for storytelling throughout this process. I cannot think of one rehearsal where I haven’t left smiling.

What has the role of Alice taught you as a person and a performer?

Evie: Playing Alice has taught me that my comfort zone is only halfway to my true abilities as a performer and throughout the rehearsal process I have slowly expanded that comfort zone to where I am now which has been a massive confidence boost. It has also taught me that humility is just as important as talent; which which I have seen in my cast members.

Do you see any similarities between yourself and Alice?
Evie: I pride myself on being a very curious and imaginative person, I have always loved Alice for being a positive role model to those who think differently so I have made it a point to emphasise that in my performance.

If you weren’t playing Alice what role would you like to play?
Evie: I really love the caterpillar’s song and character, they have such a good energy to them and such a welcoming demeanour and overall they seem like a really fun character to play.

Why should people see Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR?
Evie: Because everyone in this show both onstage and behind the scenes have put in a lot of hard work and dedication into bringing Alice In Wonderland jr to life at YPT (again!) and I can guarantee no matter what age you are you will enjoy the show!

Come along and see Jonah along with 71 more YPT students in our most recent YPT Production!
